Pregnancy Q & A
What is involved in pregnancy care?
Pregnancy care encompasses all pre-pregnancy counseling, prenatal support, and postnatal care. If you’re thinking about getting pregnant, the doctors can help you with lifestyle changes that maximize your fertility and ability to carry a baby with minimal complications.
Dr. Killingsworth, Dr. Middleton, and Dr. Troxler provide you with recommendations about prenatal vitamins (even before you conceive), which medications and supplements to avoid, and suggestions on diet and exercise.
During your pregnancy, the doctors monitor your vital signs and the baby’s growth and offer appropriate screenings. If you have complications, the doctors can support you and minimize the effects on your health and the health of your baby. Regular prenatal visits are an essential part of pregnancy care.
Postnatal care continues after delivery. The baby gets all the attention, but you still need health support. The doctors ensure you’re healing correctly from delivery – whether vaginal or surgical. They answer questions about breastfeeding and check in to ensure your mental and physical health are good. If not, they offer the support you need during this healing time.
What should I expect with pregnancy visits?
Prenatal care involves comprehensive support for your body and baby. The doctors offer the following:
- Regular checkups
- Monitoring of your weight and baby’s growth
- Nutritional support
- Screening tests for mom and baby
- Support for pregnancy ailment and complications
- Help devising together a birth plan
- Counseling for labor and delivery
The team at Inspire Ob/Gyn, LLC is always available if you have particular issues or concerns. If you need extra support and attention due to physical or emotional concerns, the doctors are ready to help.
During the first trimester, you come into the office about once per month. The second trimester, the appointment frequency increases to twice a month, and in the last few weeks, you come in once a week.
If you have questions, health concerns, or a high-risk pregnancy, your visits may be more frequent. Always call the office if you have concerns.
Why is prenatal care important?
Even if you’ve had previous pregnancies, each one is unique and has its own set of challenges. Prenatal care ensures you receive the correct monitoring and support you need for this pregnancy and delivery.
Prenatal care gives your baby the healthiest start possible and gives you the support you need as you transition to motherhood. Call Inspire Ob/Gyn, LLC or book online when you’re ready to start your pregnancy care.
